I know I am kinda late but this my first post but I wanna post this::::
On September 3rd 2009 I had my first audition, for somthing MUSIC WISE!
I did freaken AWSOME, on the music portion anyway! BUT HEY theire was an action/coldreading section that i kinda flaked on but whateve's, they emailed us feedback notes and heres what I was told:
Hello Tray'Cee,
So we have finally gotten around to everyone's audition notes. Here's what the panel thought:
The panel thought that you had a very good presence on stage. They especially appreciated your bubbly personality and genuine smile that gave presence to your reading and your connection to music, which was very true for you. They thought that you were a bit to young-looking to play the role of a 27-32 year old but wanted to see how you would age yourself. They thought that you played the same character in some parts when you read, so they suggested practicing versatility, not only in voice, but in gestures and movements to enhance the believability of being more than one character in a play. They took note that nervousness played a factor and that was understandable, given you were reading fast (we all have been there, so no worries). They also suggested playing with developing "emotional substance" that shapes each character. They noted that for you they would suggest practicing deeper emotions or those opposite your personality. For people who smile on a regular (and that is GREAT), we have often found it is harder for them to be taken as a different character (much the same way it's hard to see a comedian in a serious role). Often times, they have to work a little harder to make that substance known and consistent. The panel is confident that with improvement in those areas, you undoubtedly will do well on anyone's stage.
I do hope this helps and gives you a clear picture of the what was taken from your audition. Please let us know if this helped.
